Savoy Hotel Mactan earns DOH Recognition for Sanitation Excellence as ASEAN Summit opens

LAPU-LAPU CITY, Philippines (May 6, 2026) — As the 2026 ASEAN Summit officially commences today, Savoy Hotel Mactan has been honored with a Plaque of Appreciation from the Department of Health (DOH) and the Lapu-Lapu City Government. This timely recognition confirms the hotel’s full compliance with national sanitation standards, ensuring a safe, world-class environment for delegates and guests as international events begin.

After a thorough joint audit by the City Health Office and DOH regional representatives, Savoy Hotel Mactan received a Plaque of Appreciation for achieving full compliance with national health protocols. The inspection assessed key areas, including food safety, water quality, and waste management, confirming that the property is guest-ready for international delegates. The turnover was led by the Lapu-Lapu City Health Office through the efforts of City Health Officer Dr. Nelner Omus, in partnership with the DOH Region VII team headed by Dr. Jen Arellano-Cortes.

The award was proudly accepted by the Savoy Hotel Mactan leadership team, including Group General Manager Art Boncato, Cluster General Manager Avinash Menon, and General Manager Josef Victor Chiongbian, alongside Hygienist Yvonne Durano and Engineer Leigh Cabajar.
