Mactan, Lapulapu City, Cebu – February 3, 2025 – Savoy Hotel Mactan Newtown welcomed the Chinese New Year with a series of meaningful rituals, traditional celebrations, and festive feasts, making this year’s festivities truly special.

On January 28, the hotel's supervisors, managers, and directors visited the tranquil Fo Guang Shan Chu Un Temple, where they were warmly greeted by Venerable Youhui. During their visit, the team took part in a New Year’s prayer, a moment of reflection that emphasized the Three Good Acts: Do Good Deeds, Speak Good Words, and Think Good Thoughts.

In addition to the prayer, the team wrote down their personal wishes for the new year and selected fortune cards, marking a moment of deep reflection and hope for prosperity. They also toured the temple, immersing themselves in its serene surroundings and spiritual teachings.

The celebration continued with a traditional Chinese New Year Lunch, a cherished Savoy Hotel Mactan Newtown tradition hosted by General Manager Josef Victor Chiongbian. 

The following day, January 29, the hotel’s festivities continued with a lively display of lion and dragon dances, symbolizing the triumph of good over evil and ushering in a year of prosperity. The day began with the lighting of firecrackers, accompanied by the rhythmic sounds of drum beats, and a traditional eye-dotting ceremony performed by General Manager Josef Victor Chiongbian and Area Director of Sales and Marketing Norielle Roldan to awaken the lion. The celebration was further amplified by the energetic lion and dragon dances, alongside the tossing of coins for good luck.
